A Message to the Class of '06

Prodg Entertainment Promotions would like to take the opportunity to wish the class of 2006 success in all their future endeavors. High School & College graduates, recipients of masters & Professional degrees as well as PhD's, we applaud you. The road may not have been easy yet you have overcome. Knowledge gained is priceless; however, what is most vital is the way in which you utilize that knowledge. Obtaining a degree is simply not enough; as future leaders- and yes, you are all future leaders- you need to become the village that raised us. Success means nothing if your brother is lagging behind.

To those who graduated high school the road ahead is paved with opportunities which may not immediately be obvious, but soon it will be clear. Whether you decide to go to college or you decide to take another path, growth should always be at the forefront. College graduates and beyond: you are now the decision makers. It is not sufficient to be successful in your chosen field. What is going to be vital for us to grow as a community is for you to help those who have not been as fortunate. Mentorship is one of the greatest gifts that one can give. Nothing pleases a younger person more than to be given an opportunity to work closely with a successful, not much older professional. This is the time for you to make the connection. I urge you to make it!

Class of 2006, as you step into the rest of your lives, I ask you to think not only of your success, but of your brothers and sisters. Each day as you do something to enrich your life, do something to enhance the situation of your community as well. The load we have to carry as a community is indeed heavy, but as we all know, Men anpil chay Pa lou.

Kembe la,

  Greetings!

Welcome to the first edition of our newsletter. We are Prodg (Prodigy) Entertainment Promotions, a non-profit organization founded by young Haitian professionals to help promote the positive achievements, efforts, and good will of Haitians living and working in America. We were motivated to act because it seems that the image of the Haitian immigrant, or the haitian american individual living/working in this country is mostly negative.

We find it even more alarming when we observe that this negative image is one that many Haitians themselves subscribe to. This causes many to adopt the mantra: "m'pa fe biznis ak ayisyen". When one considers the many ills that our people face both here in the US and at home in Haiti, one realizes that the need for unity, for mutual respect, for networking, and for supporting each other's business ventures is paramount for our economic, political and personal survival.

Our aims are simple: First, it is to encourage and educate each other about all of the great things that we are doing all over this country across many disciplines. Second, it is to educate the world, through our website, our press releases, and these newsletters, about the power of the Haitian individual, and the excellence that we are capable of delivering in practically all areas.

Please join us as we launch our venture. We recognize and are humbled the challenge ahead of us and press forward with the hope, fortitude, and fighting spirit of our forefathers on whose shoulders we stand every day. We welcome your feedback and appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Blake Seide

The multi- talented Mecca is not only a rapper but an actor, a poet, an educator and activist. Later this year, he will be featured in the highly anticipated Haitian film "Dechennen". Mecca aim to deliver the 'goods' to the Haitian masses and be the change he wants to see.
